A large
consignment of books and educational resources sent to Azad Kashmir and
Pakistan in January 2006

One of the aims of KEK UK is to actively seek
support for its work in Azad Kashmir and Pakistan from local institutions.
Part of this effort is to collect books and educational resources from UK.
Over the past year we have successfully accumulated over 20 tones of books
mostly due to the generous donation by the Kirklees Education Services
through the efforts of Kathryn Sheard the information
Resources Manager. These books and resources for our KEF schools and the
Institute of Teacher Education (ITE) were stored at the Whetley Mills
warehouse in Bradford, thanks to Mr Mussadik Hussain, Chairman
of KEF UK, until arrangements could be made to ship them to Pakistan.
The consignment was finally ready and a
container was booked from Kerry Logistics (UK) Ltd of Leeds and the loading
took place on Wed 25th January 2006. The 20 ft container full of
books and other educational resource materials was sent on its way to Qasim
port Karachi. From Karach it will be transported by road to the newly built
Pakhowal campus by road insha’Allah.
There were 700 cartons of these resources which
will make a major impact on the standard of educational services being
provided by KEF to the talented children from economically deprived families
in rural areas of Azad Kashmir and Pakistan.
